'Tiger mothers' raise their kids in the harsh way because their kids need to survive in a highly populated country. And I think that Chinese mothers know that their children will have to compete with some 1 billion others when they grow up; therefore the way they love their children is different. Mothers give their children some skills and be an expert on it. Because of the situation their living on, that their way of loving. In addition, I think that if chines children were raised in western style they would be in trouble once they grow up.
Also, America wont be until today a powerful country if they had a bad parenting style. America has often excelled in innovation, management, design, and much more. I believe that American mother's give their children the chance to explore and develop their selves. I think while the Chinese children grow up to run governments that oppress minority of the society, American mother's raise their children to be self sacrificing, giving their time, money, and lives to help others.
In conclusion, there is no argument that working hard and smart is the key to achievement in life. As each child is different and have different talents and potential, ways of guiding each and encouraging their development must necessarily be different. It calls for sensitivity and love of the child. This one style fits all as advocated by Amy Chua is simply a reflection of her traditional style of parenting. The problem is that people always misjudge and blindly say that one way is better than the other.
